INFO

Alex Fournier was born in Long Beach, California but grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received a B.A. in Film Production and Film Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. His first feature film as writer/director, Abanunule, (The Redeemed) won Best Feature and People's Choice at Beloit International Film Festival, a Redemptive Storyteller award at the Redemptive Film Festival in 2009, and was an official selection at Bend Film Festival 2008. Abanunule also premiered in Kampala, Uganda in 2009.

He is currently in pre-production on his next feature film, The Strongman, which takes place in Gulu, Northern Uganda, where LRA rebels have kidnapped more than 38,000 children in twenty years. It is about Kredo, a 13 year-old escaped child soldier who fights to become human again. Through the influences of a former rebel turned boxing coach, an idealistic American nurse, and a beautiful orphan girl, Kredo struggles to recover what has been lost: his family, his land, his innocence.

Alex and his wife Diana, a Ugandan, share their time between the U.S. and Uganda. He is currently the General Manager of a large Dairy Queen Grill-n-Chill in Eden Prairie, MN where he leads a team in the finer points of the perfect cone.
